Made to hold onto nature’s small moments
Hi. I’m Jenn Liddiard, the artist behind Treeline & Tide, a small jewelry and art studio in coastal Maine. I create botanical cyanotype jewelry and art inspired by plants, places, and the small details of the natural world you notice when you slow down.
A fern can remind you of a favorite woodland trail. A flower might bring back a summer meadow. Or perhaps you simply love the shape of a leaf or the delicate details of a seed head. I make pieces that let you keep that feeling with you.
Each original starts with plants I’ve responsibly gathered and pressed. I then arrange them on wood or paper coated with a light-sensitive cyanotype solution, expose the piece to sunlight, then rinse it to reveal the botanical impression. The sunlight, the plants, the surface, and the environment all influence the result. Those natural variations are part of what I love about cyanotype, and they mean that no two originals are exactly alike.
The jewelry
My jewelry is lightweight and comfortable for everyday wear. Made in small batches, each piece is unique, making it as much a keepsake as a piece of jewelry meant to be worn, gifted, and lived with.
The art
My art is designed to hold the memory of place even as it becomes part of the landscape of your home. Along with original artwork, I also offer archival reproductions of selected artworks, so you can choose the size that best suits your space.
About the artist
Wood has been at the center of my work for more than a decade. I’ve always loved its texture and variation, the way it feels in my hands, and the way a simple, well-made object can become something you reach for every day.
I spend a lot of time walking, often getting lost in the plants (some might say weeds) growing along the sides of trails and roads. I gather as I go, and love exploring all the ways botanicals become part of our lives: as food, medicine, dye, and materials for art, craft, and everyday use.
Cyanotype is a natural extension of that. Gathering, arranging, and printing plants gives me a reason to spend even more time with the details I love. The cycles of nature and season are an integral part of my work, shaping what I find and what I make.
The process feels like a conversation that begins with the natural world and my hands, and continues with you. You bring your own memories and associations to a piece, and it becomes part of your everyday life.
